To raise funds for Rebecca's medical treatment and improve her quality of life
Nationwide
This is Rebecca (Bec's) - a gentle soul who suffers recurrent grade 3 brain tumours from the age of 30. After going through surgery and radiotherapy 8 years ago, Rebecca managed to get back on her feet and have her life back until her headaches returned in early 2013 and a second Brain tumour was removed followed by chemotherapy. Bec's responded well to the treatment and was on her way through a slow recovery.
However in early July 2014, Bec started to feel weak on her right side and her condition rapidly declined in which she has since suffered severe right sided weakness, unable to walk, speech difficulty and tiredness.
Her MRI scan showed Bec's is suffering delayed radiotherapy damage and there is very little treatment available for this. However there is a drug available in NZ called Avastin. it is not funded, but has shown promising results in treating and possibly reversing the damage, as well as treating high grade tumours.
Unfortunately the drug costs $7000 for one treatment, and Bec needs some help to get this kind of funding. After 10 treatments are paid for, then the drug is free.
Bec is a beautiful person, a brilliant artist, a loving wife, sister, daughter, aunty and friend who is in great need of a better quality of life. Follow her progress at https://www.facebook.com/becsfightforlife. Her artwork can be viewed at www.facebook.com/rjsartist
Any donations big or small are so much appreciated, and all funds go into a trust account for Rebecca's medical bills and care
Update for 25/11/2014 25 November 2014
A HUGE, SPECIAL thank you to the Irish team for raising funds for Bec. So incredible! Heard it was a fantastic night and a lot of fun! We are all just incredibly grateful for what you have done. The love and support for Bec is with such big hearts xoxox Great to see Bec has gained some energy and life back, talking more, smiling more. Awesome to hear her voice. Had a positive Oncology appointment recently. Bec has completed 2 rounds of Chemo and handles it pretty well, and wants to continue, and is soon to receive her 4th round of Avastin over in Waikato. Thank you for your continued support to enable Bec the opportunity for this treatment.
