Aaron and Belinda were involved in a car accident resulting in major injuries. They will not be able to work for many months.
Manawatu / Whanganui
On 15th November Aaron and Belinda were taking their deaf autistic son for drive to settle him down. Two minutes from their home on the open road a car crossed the centre line into their path.
Their car was demolished and luckily, thanks to duel air bags, Aaron and Belinda survived albeit with major broken bones. Belinda spent some days in ICU with a flail chest. Both have injuries to multiple limbs. Belinda has both collar bones broken and may require surgery to fix at least one if not both. Aaron has multiple ribs broken in multiple places meaning he has to sit upright at all times or he cannot breathe.
Their son, luckily was not injured but obviously has been affected emotionally by the accident. Likewise Aaron has suffered emotionally knowing a person was killed.
Aaron and Belinda will be months recovering and only Aaron is covered by ACC. Belinda was to have sat her state finals for a nursing qualification three days after the accident.
After 15 years together with many hurdles on the way they are planning to marry on March 14th next year.
Because Belinda had been studying they could not afford to insure their car. They have had to sell a second car given to them for Belinda's use to pay for Christmas for the children.
Please help this couple get back on their feet and be able to go ahead with their wedding. They are lucky to be alive.
They are in this situation through no fault of their own, rather of someone else's stupidity.
Until the coroner's office has completed its inquiry it is not possible to state why the driver crossed the centre line.
Aaron worked with my late husband on a graveyard shift for BP Feilding. They became close friends. He and Belinda supported us as we dealt with my husband's struggle with bowel cancer over the last 18 months until his death. Aaron would cover shifts when he needed time off for treatment. Now it is time to help them.
