Please help support Hunter's 3rd chance at life. This beautiful rescue dog deserves only the best.
Auckland
I am a 23 year old proud mother to a recently adopted gorgeous rescue puppy x (my baby). The night before last we woke up to “Hunter” very ill. After an emergency race to the vet and $700 later it was discovered he had swallowed 3 large foreign objects.
At this moment in time he has survived the night in after hours care and is about to have his operation where they will surgically open him up and remove the objects as well as performing exploratory work while he is under the anaesthetic.
Last night there was a small chance that one of more of the objects may attempt to pass through his intestine in which case he would have had no chance of survival. Little Hunter woke up this morning (tail still wagging!) and has proven to us that he's a fighter and wants to stick around to enjoy life with us all.
So fingers crossed all goes well for my little boy today and he can come home on Thursday after another 2 nights in care under observation.
I do have pet insurance, but unfortunately my current policy only covers up to $1500.00 for surgery costs and $400.00 for x-rays.
The estimate for his total costs including x-rays, vet bills, after hours care, surgery, post operative care and medications will be between $4-5,000.00. In my current financial situation there is no way I can afford this amount so I thought I would create this page to gratefully receive any donations no matter how small to help pay for Hunter’s 3rd chance at life. I have already given him a 2nd shot by adopting him from the amazing Ruakaka Rescue Centre and everyone thinks this little fighter definitely deserves a 3rd.
Hunter is on the road to recovery 24 September 2015
Our little Hunter had his stitches removed last week! Great news that none had ruptured or opened internally (We had our doubts as he is such an energetic little man he was constantly jumping around totally unaware of what had just happened to him!). He has returned to his normal self - and finally cone free. We are spending TONNES of time training him away from rocks and any foreign objects when he goes walking or explores the garden.
We feel so lucky that he is still with us each and every day. We can't stop spoiling him now! He has tonnes of new toys and is a very happy boy. All thank to all of you who kindly made a donation.
