Chronic lung disease, hole in her heart, dislocated hips to name a few of Poppy's challenges, but she is a fighter. Help bring her home

Manawatu / Whanganui

Poppy and her twin sister Willow were born on Christmas Day 2014. At 19 weeks pregnant Poppys' mum Hayley was told that Poppy's four limbs had not formed properly and were in danger of breaking whilst inside the womb, so Hayley ceased working.

Despite being born "in a bad way" (as described by her mum), Poppy showed everyone the fighter that she is. She has severely dislocated hips and her lungs were under-developed. She also has laryngomylasia and trachyamylasia, so if Poppy gets a cold, her airways will collapse. She is still the size of a new born and the family are working with clinical engineers to see if they can make a mask small enough for her to have a breathing machine at home.

Poppy developed Reflux and needed to have an operation because this was causing her to stop breathing. They then discovered that part of Poppy's oesophagus was pumping food the wrong way!! and that wee Poppy has ASD which is a hole in her heart that hopefully will repair itself. If that isn't enough, one of her kidneys do not function very well which puts her at risk for regular bladder infections that often need IV antibiotics.

The family's first goal is to ensure their house is safe for Poppy to live in. They need an HRV air circulating system and possibly a heat pump for Poppy's room when she comes home. Poppy's future needs are unknown at this stage. Once the home is a safe environment for Poppy they would like to save for things that would aid in taking Poppy places. Like a vehicle that would fit a seat to support Poppy with her casts on her legs and a wheelchair if need be in the future.

As the family do not qualify for any govt assistance, Please help me to help Poppy. I ask that you donate just $3 and share this page with all your friends and family and ask that they do the same. This little girl needs to be home with her family. She needs to be with her twin sister Willow whose presence I know will aid in Poppy's recovery. But most of all Hayley their mum, needs her daughters together. In a message from Hayley today; she expresses...."Today has been interesting being my first Mother's Day very hard having my girls separated."

Please check out the Gallery and pictures of Poppy when she is well, and also not so well; before her operation, and sharing a cuddle with Willow.
