The Fiji Village Project is a trans-pacific student initiative that promotes sustainable health development in remote Fijian villages.
Nationwide
Everybody has the right to an adequate standard of living for their health and well-being. Yet many people living in Fiji do not have the health access, education, or services that they need.
I'm Lucy, a nursing student from The University of Auckland currently at the end of my second year of study. With a passion for health, human rights, and global equality, I'm incredibly excited to have this amazing opportunity to contribute back to people who are in the utmost need of water accessibility, water sanitation, health screenings, and health education.
Next year from January 3rd-17th, the FVP team will be undertaking specific projects in Fijian villages to promote and improve health. Attended by 15 medical and nursing students from New Zealand, to work alongside Fijian and Australian students, the project aims to:
- Improve water quality and supply through rainwater harvesting
- Perform health screenings
- Visit schools to promote health education, health awareness and sanitation
- Promote women’s health
Individually we need to raise about $600 each to contribute to the collective pool of donations needed to fund this project.
Every donation is hugely appreciated, whether it is small or large!
All donations will be used to directly provide supplies and services for the projects. Flights and accommodation for volunteers are all self-funded separately.
