Please help the Gibson family raise funds to continue their treatment in Perth, Australia and knock this tumour for 6!
Auckland
In July 2014 at 36 years old, James Gibson, or “Gibbo” as he’s widely known on the North Shore was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma, or in layman’s terms stage 3 brain cancer. This devastating news came as a huge shock to James, his wife Eve, their three young children, family and friends.
In October 2014 he opted for a de-bulking surgery. The surgery went well and approximately 60% of the tumour was removed. However post surgery James suffered two instances of unexpected swelling on the brain, the first caused James to have to be resuscitated and placed into an induced coma, and the second caused a stroke.
James spent three weeks in Auckland hospital followed by another two weeks at a rehabilitation centre. He is working incredibly hard and making a remarkable recovery from the brain surgery and stroke but the fight is now on to beat the cancer.
James is using nutrition, supplements and alternate treatments to beat his cancer. He has recently undergone Radio Wave Therapy (an alternative to radiation/chemotherapy) in Perth, Australia. James and his family spent a month in Perth while James underwent treatment, and with positive results from the Radio Wave Therapy the Gibson family will be heading back to Perth in March for a second round of treatment.
Each round of treatment costs approximately $30,000 covering treatment, flights and accommodation etc. These treatments, along with regular intravenous Vitamin C, plus supplements and loads of other unforeseen costs are now starting to mount and this is why we are now requesting your help....
If you’ve ever played rugby with Gibbo (maybe bagged a championship?), ever received some handy building advice, enjoyed a bbq round his place, been offered a nasty shot in a bar or a late night spirit from his top shelf, pulled in a snapper on his boat, have entertained your kids in his back garden, travelled with him, had your kids coached by him........ then you can help make a difference in his time of need.
James is 110% focused on achieving complete healing and recovery, and he has said “I have too much to live for. I want to watch my boys grow into men. My daughter is one year old and I am determined to walk her down the aisle.”
Your contribution can help with James’s quest to beat this terrible situation and continue to live his life to the fullest with his family, within his community and on this earth.
Please give what you can to a remarkable man with so much still ahead of him and more joy to bring into our lives as he has already done for me – and so many others - over the past 30+ years...
Take a moment to think with your heart, then make a difference in the lives of a loving husband and father and his family who never ask for help from others but are going to need it to achieve their big goal – life.
Yours Sincerely,
-a good mate.
I am a long time close friend, a neighbour and a constant source of positive vibes to James and Eve and want to do my bit by bringing together friends and family to perhaps offer a hand of support in the way of a financial contribution towards their mounting treatment costs...
5 Days to go til Gibbosfight fundraising page concludes... 25 March 2015
Hi Everyone,
Firstly big thank you to everyone who has made donations over the past 4 weeks. Just to give you an update, this week the Givealittle organisation makes their monthly payouts to all the recipients so James and Eve have received approx $50k into their acc this week while in Perth which is exactly what the desperately needed to settle some large bills and hopefully conclude their treatment over there.
I am now putting out a final call, reminder to anyone who thinks they can go the extra mile and perhaps fwd this page onto any people who have mentioned they would like to make a donation or read more about James's plight after hearing you talk about it over the past few weeks.
Perhaps you know of a club, newsletter, community group that you could get this page link included on. Or perhaps you have some corporate or charitable trusts contacts that may have some funds set aside to donate to a worthy cause in the community such as this.
We are currently sitting at $56,500 (if including ydays massive $5k donation made direct into their acc). If we can find an extra $3.5k out there through simply word of mouth and a bit of brainstorming then we will hit the magic $60k mark which pays for the 2 x treatment trips they have made over the past 3 months.
Have a think on how you can help promote this page over it's final 5 days before it closes and help a good bloke get all the backing he needs to knock this thing for 6 Black Caps style!
- a good mate
