Elias is in desperate need of a vehicle that will accommodate his wheelchair. He is 40kg and getting impossible for mum to lift.

Elias is severely disabled. He is non-verbal, tube-fed, has frequent seizures and can not walk unassisted.

He needs a new vehicle which has the ability to get him inside within his wheelchair as right now mum is having to lift him in and out of his car seat which gets harder every day as he grows. We have exhausted every possible funding option and because he is not covered by ACC there is very little government support available to assist him.

Not only is it important for getting him to school and his many appointments, but when he's well he loves getting out and enjoying life like any other 11 year old boy and spending time with his siblings (who love him to bits).

He needs and deserves the freedom this would give him. We are very grateful for any help. Thank you.

I organised this Givealittle page on behalf of my mother Kristina and brother Elias because I have watched her struggle more and more to lift him in and out of the car as he has grown bigger. This has taken a serious toll on her health. Even so, she continues to take him everywhere just like his siblings as he loves to be out and about.

There is a major flaw in our health system where children like Elias, who are not covered under ACC, do not get the support they require to enable them to be fully included in society.

Not only is this unfair (and unsafe) for Elias, but it takes a major toll on his family and it is distressing to see my mum lifting nearly her own body weight just to keep her family together. Mum is a problem solver and went for years trying to sort this issue out on her own, but this problem has gotten too big.

Once again an enormous thanks to all those who have contributed to our cause in the last couple of months.
