I will be representing NZ as part of the Special Needs Team at the Brighton International Taekwon-Do Federation World Championships
Hawke's Bay
I have been officially selected to represent NZ at the ITF World Championships in July 2016. This will be in Brighton. You can see their web page here: http://www.itf-administration.com/events.asp?nurn=12509
At the end of this year I will grade to my Black Belt (1st DAN)! It’s been a lot of hard work, but like my Coach Ben Evans says I have “indomitable spirit.” My commitment and determination for the last 8 years to my training and studying my theory has enabled me to achieve this level.
In 2011 I went to the ITF World Championships in Korea with my Mum and Dad and Coach. I was the first special needs person to demonstrate at such an international competition. In the photo you can see my gold medal award. Check out my demonstration here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uur2ei-M-lY
I have Down syndrome and I’m a member of the Blind Foundation so I need my parents’ assistance to travel to England and take part in this demonstration. This will show to the world what I as a special needs person can accomplish when given the opportunity, encouragement and support.
The funds we raise with Givealittle will be for the airfares for Johann, and his parents to Brighton and accommodation.
