Canterbury
I am setting up this page to help my 4 year old nephew Jackson, his parents Chris and Stacey and his older sister London. Jackson has recently been diagnosed with a incurable kidney disease called Nephrotic Syndrome. His first kidney biopsy has shown minimal change disease but so far the initial treatments for this are not keeping him in remission.
It is a tough time for any parent to imagine having a sick child and particularly tough when they are so little and its difficult for them to understand why this is happening. It is also difficult knowing too that this is a rare disease and the answers are never clear as to how long this could take. This process could take years, some take up until teens years, some longer.
Jackson had a little bit of swelling one day and now he is in and out of hospital trying to get the Nephrotic Syndrome under control.
Unfortunately this is difficult as he appears to be in the small percentage of children who are steroid resistant and so has been relapsing weekly before he can recover for any period of time. He swells up in his tummy, face, hands, feet and this is putting a huge strain on his body, his kidneys and his blood pressure. He is on a low sodium diet and ever changing combinations of drugs, which come with their own terrible side effects, to try control the swelling and fight off this horrible disease and get him into remission.
This page is to take some of the financial stress away from Jackson's family. As Jackson is still relapsing and having regular hospital visits means his mum Stacey is no longer able to work and won't be able to for quite awhile. His dad Chris is working 6 days a week to try get by and everyone is supporting with groceries and emotional support like accompanying to hospital visits but friends have asked how they can help so we have created this page for that purpose. We want to raise some money to help make this horrible and immensely stressful time easier so they can focus on the most important person in their lives, Jackson.

Update on Jackson 9 November 2015
Thanks again to everyone who has donated. Since my last update Jackson was able to avoid getting chickenpox and was doing well. He has unfortunately relapsed about 2 weeks ago. The combination of medication is keeping the swelling at bay but he has increased protein again and a new medication plan is being decided by his doctors at the moment. While the cyclosporin is somewhat working it is not beating the disease. Today due to his steroid medication he has broken his wrist and is now in a cast for 6 weeks. Brittle bones are a side effect of his drugs. He was having a happy moment at his Nana's place showing off his dance moves when he fell and that easily he has broken his wrist.
What a brave wee man Jackson has been. Its sad to say this is a long journey not a short one and I will update everyone again as we get good and bad news. If you have time please share this page and donations would be appreciated as Stacey and Chris continue to focus their energy and time on this sweet little boy.
