Help Juliana to stay in NZ - residence denied because she is paraplegic
Auckland
After living and working, productively, as an advocate for people with disabilities in NZ for 3 years, Juliana was disheartened to learn that her petition for a permanent residency visa has been denied. The legal grounds for the denial are based on presumed costs-of-car because she is paraplegic. The mitigating circumstances which Juliana feels were not considered, and one basis for her appeal, is that her family is here. Mother, sister, brother are NZ residents. They each contribute positively to their new home and take good care of each other.
As a very good Juliana’s friend said: “A disability is only really a disability when it stops someone from doing what someone want or need to do. A lawyer can be as competent in a wheelchair as not, as long as he/she has access to places and material that are required for the job. My friend Juliana works full time and she pay taxes to the government like me. Individuals with disabilities must have the same rights as others. We all have a right to live as normal a life as desired. It’s a matter of fairness, dignity and respect. INZ has denied the request (visa) of Juliana Carvalho to stay in the country. For commercial working of any kind, accessibility means that individuals with disabilities can turn into customers, rising sales quantity and profits. It makes great business and economic sense. Individuals with disabilities add to the variety of the community, and that difference makes everyone’s life wealthy. Many individuals with disabilities already have a tough life. It’s simple human respectable behaviour not to make it more difficult than necessary. Please help Ju to stay at home (NZ) with her family and friends. Any amount helps! GIVE A LITTLE or a lot (if u can).”
