Sufferer of IBD, PTSD and anxiety disorder, asking for help with my ambulance bills and funding towards a therapy pet.

Canterbury

I'm Lauren, I suffer from IBD, an autoimmune condition that affects my digestive tract and my joints, and also causes horrendous fatigue and mild malnutrition and vitamin/iron deficiencies. Over the last year and a half I have required many trips/stays in hospital (as well as seeing gastroenterologist multiple times and having numerous tests ordered), resulting in horrendous ambulance bills my partner and I are not able to pay for (he has his own health struggles with Fibromyalgia), and there is no financial support available via health care or WINZ to help with the payments, unfortunately. The current ambulance bill stands at around $1,340 roughly. I'm anticipating, unfortunately, the possibility of another one before this fundraiser ends.

After recently "adopting" a cat (16y/o Ragdoll of a longterm family friend) who has since sadly passed away), we have found that therapy pets work very well for my mental health, especially my chronic anxiety, and looking for me to get my own. I am in contact with a local NZCF Ragdoll breeder, and the kittens come to you desexed, vaccinated, with a free bag of litter and a large bag of food for the cost of $1000. If this is not fundraised, I will not be able to have my cat/Therapy Pet, as naturally, BILLS COME FIRST.

My anxiety has been an ongoing problem for coming on two years now, my insomnia even longer. I am on medication for both, but do not wish to be on it long term.

The reason behind choosing to get a Ragdoll kitten instead of an SPCA cat of my own is essentially the same reason people choose specific breeds as service animals/therapy pets - reliability, familiarity, and temperament. Ragdoll's are a breed known for affection, companionship and placidness, and are also well suited to being indoor cats, a necessity as we live centre city near very busy roads.

I'm starting this in the hope that I can raise some money to pay off my ambulance bills, as St John have been absolutely brilliant, but they cannot provide the wonderful service they do unless they receive funding and have their bills paid.

Any money not spent on bills or my therapy cat will be donated to the local SPCA.
