Stay at home parent trying to get my legal aid debt paid off i was found not guilty but yet still have a debt and interest as well :(
Northland
Where to start? I was married previously and had a very bad breakup that involved criminal court...tenancy court
...and family court... in 1999 i was convicted and received 120 hours community service my convictions no longer stand due to the clean slate act 2004. I spent approx
8 years going through family court and got custody of our 2 youmgest children...then my ex wife managed to start it all up again in another family court..so i walked away from the situation and had nothing further to do with the fiasco after handing the children back..in 2011 I had a marital rape trial and was found not guilty..my ex wife had also tried to use our daughter to bear false witness against me and one of my friends...my daughter refused and came to court as one of my witnesses..it was proven in the case that every time custody issues where happening my ex wife would try and involve police or govt agencies by making unfounded allegations about me..after the jury trial my barrister wrote to legal aid and told them that it was manifestly unjust that i should have a legal aid bill because of my ex wifes games. Yet I still have a debt. My previous convictions are as a result of her being believed initially...i had never even had a speeding ticket. I am now in a loving relationship and look after the housework..dinner...school and daycare dropoffs for our 2 young children and patiently wait for my turn to be able to work part time when they are both at school. I dont think my partners wages should have to pay my debt :( we look forward to being debtfree and saving for a mortgage. Thank you for reading such a long page.
