I am going to get a mohawk to raise funds for Lisa's bucket list
Nationwide
Lisa is a girl I went through Queens High School with, she like me is a mum and a wife but almost a year ago Lisa was diagnosed with primary bowel cancer that had spread to her liver, lungs and her lymph nodes and it is terminal. There is no surgery that can save Lisa!!
Lisa is fighting to extend her life which means she has chemo fortnightly, recently as a result of this Lisa made the hard decision to shave her thinning hair. This was very hard for Lisa as she is someone who has always had a head full of thick dark hair. Just recently when I was telling a friend of my plan for Lisa I used her hair as a feature to describe and they knew exactly who I was talking about!
I have decided to show Lisa my support by getting a Mohawk but I want to do more then that so my goal with this is that I raise as much as possible for her to put towards things on her bucket list.
Lisa is married to her rock and best friend Matt, she has two boys 10 and 7 and is an only child so my dream would be that Lisa is in a position to create what ever memories she wants with those close her.
I ask you give what ever you can, every little bit helps. We have all be affected by cancer weather it be an aunty, an uncle, a mother or a friend. I myself have had my share of family and friends affected and a scare or two of my own which is part of the reason I will be running the odd raffle, daring to ask people to give me a challenge that they will pay me to complete (I may so NO to some so get your mind out of the gutter) and on the 28th of February I will pull up my big girl pants and become the scariest looking mum at the school gate with a mohawk I promise to rock for 1 month minimum.
Thank you all for your support!!
Lisa Fought a good fight 4 January 2015
Hi There,
It is with great sadness that I share the news that unfortunately Lisa is no longer with us, she passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of the 1st of January 2015 in hospital. I am extremely grateful Lisa and family got a wonderful Christmas together but am absolutely gutted she didn't get longer!!
I will still follow through with the mohawk although it will now be in memory and as a celebration of the wonderful lady she was rather then in support of the wonderful person she is. I have booked my hair cut for Wednesday morning as the funeral is Thursday and it seems fitting to make sure I have this ridiculous hair cut for her funeral to show the family and friends how much I cared. I had said I would rock the mohawk for a month when we first set this up and I intend to follow through on that promise so will post the odd photo proof on our facebook page.
I have left this givealittle page set up so that should anyone still want to place a donation it is not too late, this page is linked directly to Lisa's bank account so all monies will become part of the 'estate' as such.
There has also been a page set up to help Lisa's ex-husband Josh support their two boys...this is the link https://givealittle.co.nz/search?q=The+Baker+Boys
My thoughts are with all those affected by the loss of a strong courageous brave lady that fought the battle to live a bit longer and won a family Christmas!
Rest in peace Lisa, you were loved and will never be forgotten!! For the rest of us the world is a little more dull without Lisa in it but I know the night sky is much brighter for having her up there.
Thank you all for your support, I know this meant a lot to Lisa and her family so Thank you.
