Help Lucie to increase an awareness of IDC breast cancer and to her full recovery
Auckland
My name is Lucie, I am 33 years old. I have been diagnosed with Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma IDC (a very rear and aggressive inflammatory breast cancer) stage 3 in March 2015.
I am about to start chemotherapy which will be followed with the surgery.
When I heard this news I couldn't believe it. I woke up the following morning and thought "was it just a bad dream?", but it wasn't. It was reality! Your world stops all of the sudden.
You always hear of these stories but never think it can happen to you, especially at such young age.
I asked why me? What have I done wrong? How did this happen? Am I going to die? All these questions went through my mind.
The path ahead of me is uncertain which is very scary.
I would like to raise the money to help cover cost of stay and flight tickets for my parents and brother to come to support me from Europe or potential treatment if it is not covered. This is extremely difficult cancer to diagnose. This type is often misdiagnosed for hematoma or infection as it looks very similar. That was also my case. But the time is ticking therefore an early correct diagnoses is the key to make it a successful recovery! I had this only 2 months and it is already grade 3!
I am lucky enough to have such a loving partner supporting me through this journey to a full recovery. It is hard on both of us. I am so thankful for all support from my friends, colleagues and family. It makes such a difference to feel loved and knowing that you are not alone in this.
Please help me to raise an awareness of this type of cancer which may save life of others. Any donation will be much appreciated. THANK YOU!
Lucie
Update 22 June 2015
Hi all,
For those who are wondering how am I doing, here is a little update.
I have completed my 4th chemo last Monday 15th June 2015. I have two more to go.
I won't know how successful the treatment is till after the surgery. It is a waiting game.
Thank you everyone for your generous donations. I am planning to bring my parents with brother over the latest for Christmas if all goes well with my treatment. And that's thanks to you all. I can't thank you enough!! You have no idea how happy you made me.
Your supportive comments are giving me the strength to fight. I read every and each of them.
I also want to thank to all my friends who made me wonderful hats or gifted beautiful scarves. It is very much appreciated. Also to those wonderful friends who bring me some meal time to time.
And the biggest THANK YOU goes to my partner Dennis who is there for me at every doctor appointment, takes care for me 24/7 and has to put up with my mood swings as I go through all the side effects. It is not easy.
Lucie
