Hi. I'm Maddy. I hope to do an Outward Bound Course in December but mum's ongoing medical costs mean I have to fund raise the money myself.
Auckland
Dad proposed to mum in 1991 after an Outward Bound Course! He always said the Course was the second best thing he ever did and it lead to the best thing. They are still married 23 years later. I also hope to do Outward Bound this year but have no expectations of meeting my future husband.
Sadly mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness last year and her medical costs mean I have to find the money to do the course myself. I am doing a 10km sponsored run, selling things on trademe, collecting items for a raffle and trying to work part-time around school commitments.
Raising funds is the start of the Outward Bound journey which is designed to push you beyond your physical and emotional boundaries. There is no doubt I will be more resilient and better equipped to support my family when it is over.
Our family has already received so much love and support from friends and our community through the tough times. That humbling experience has brought home to me that giving and serving others has its own reward and I have decided to join the police after I leave school. Outward Bound may help me towards that long term goal.
You too could help me get there. Any amount, whether big or small, is greatly appreciated.
10km Run Over and Done 19 July 2015
I finally got to the point where I felt ready to give the 10km run a go towards the end of the first week of the school holidays. I had done it once in training and it didn't go too badly so ... success and Dad took some photos and a video along the way. Slow and steady gets you there eventually :)
Thank you so much for your kind donation. You are right, she is a special person indeed.
Hey Rosie. Thanks for the donation and the support. I really appreciate it. It's gone a long way.
