Help Support Michaela's journey through the treatment of Breast cancer
Auckland
Michaela has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, Grade 2 invasive cancer, the tumor has been removed and was 23mm in size. Chemotherapy, Herceptin and radiotherapy are the current treatment procedures, followed by hormone blocking tablets for the next 5 years.
As Michaela is only 30 and so career orientated she does not have children yet. But such a very important part of her life that she doesn't want to loose the opportunity. Fertility preservation is her best option as the chemo may potentially damage these body functions, preserving tissue now can allow her to conceive after treatment. To ensure a happy, healthy, future family I feel this security measure will greatly help Michaela through treatment This process though is a costly event and requires travel out of town.
Daily finances and bills that will occur from the months ahead are also an added stress on Michaela and her family. So I've created this page to help relieve that stress.
Lets give Micki all the love and support we can!!
Shes a beautiful soul, a loving person, extremely motivated and a real inspiration to everybody! Shes a fighter, a tough cookie and deserves to get the best possible outcome !!
I am involved because Michaela is a very special friend of mine. This support group is for her friends of NZ wanting to help from a distance
First chemo 28 March 2015
Hi everyone,
Micki here! First up I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your donations! Every donation no matter the amount is a help to me and my family and we are so so grateful! And to everybody sharing my page you all rock too! Keep it up team x
Just to let you all know my fertility is now protected and safely stored on ice! Successful surgery and thanks to all of you it will soon be a zero balance for the surgery cost!
I had my first chemotherapy cycle Monday 16th March, side effects have been minimal and manageable.
One of them though landed me in hospital earlier this week and that's where I still am for another couple of nites. I am feeling well I just have to stay put until my white blood cell count gets up to a safer level.
I'm overwhelmed by all of the donations so have decided to give back somehow. I have registered to host a morning tea in May in conjunction with 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea' raising money for cancer research. I have a goal of $500 but hope reach higher!
Once again thank you all, much love from Queensland :)
