Merivale residential therapeutic community programme is for mums who have experienced violence and addiction.
Nationwide
Iosis is the only NZ not-for-profit organisation that runs a residential therapeutic community programme for mothers impacted by violence and addiction. More than 80 per cent of the mums graduate from the Merivale programme, with the knowledge and skills they need to safely care for their children and transform their family life for good. Together we can help these women become the best mums they can be.
Iosis provides counselling, social work in the community and in 15 schools, in-home parent coaching, and a range of group and one-on-one programmes for parents. We also provide foster care services and have a residential programme for mothers who have experienced violence or addiction.
Thinking differently now 18 March 2015
When Lynda graduated from Merivale in February 2015, she was excited about the prospect of a new future with her partner and children. Six months before, when she first came to Merivale, things looked quite bleak. Five of her children were already in the care of other family members. She was worried she would lose her two youngest as well. However, through one-on-one counselling and participation in the group learning programmes at Merivale, Lynda gained a new way of thinking about herself and life. She learned how to express herself without anger, and how to bond with her children. She learned how to transform her family life for good.
