NZ U20 Women's Handball team needs funds to compete in an Intercontinental tournament in Bulgaria. Please help!
Wellington
We need help to get to a tournament in Bulgaria!
Handball is a small but growing sport in NZ. In the rest of the world it is the second largest sport by participation (behind football) and is also an Olympic sport.
The NZ Under-20 Women's team achieved a major milestone when it won the Oceania Championship last December. This qualifies the girls to compete on the World stage in Bulgaria in October 2015. We receive some funding from the International Federation, but are still facing considerable costs to get us to Bulgaria. This will be the first time a NZ Junior Women's team has competed in an Intercontinental Handball Tournament and another step in a long road to developing the sport in NZ.
Appreciate your support for helping these amazing young women achieve a dream!
P.S. - We are the first Junior Women's team to have beaten Australia ever in years of Oceania competitions! That's got to be worth something!
I am the team manager and co-ordinating the fund raising for the team. Every dollar donated will go towards helping this team achieve its dream of competing on the world stage in Bulgaria and will help the development of Handball in NZ.
Thanks,
Lynda Hagen
