My girlfriend Poppy has been struggling with fibromyalgia/ME, a chronic pain/fatigue disorder.
Auckland
A bout of glandular fever and hepatitis mid-2014 has left Poppy suffering from symptoms including chronic pain and tiredness. There is no treatment that completely cures Fibromyalgia/ME, but with the right therapy we can help Poppy get the most out of her life again.
Poppy studies a Bachelor of Music at Victoria University, but her illness meant she had to put off her studies until this year. She is persevering, but is constantly exhausted and sometimes unable to leave her bed for days at a time. She is on a cocktail of supplements and painkillers, and her mental health is affected by the illness too. How can you have a sense of self-worth when you are unable to pursue your dreams, or do the things you want to the best of your ability?

Chronic pain and fatigue diminishes quality of life, and I would love to see my beautiful girlfriend be her raidant, hilarious self again. The only specialist dealing with these illnesses is based in Auckland- consultations and follow up appointments will cost $500.00 and as students, we simply cannot afford to get Poppy the treatment she desperately needs.
I'm her boy. She's cool.
