Santina Manuel 5 yrs old diagnosed last week with an inoperable brain tumour.
Nationwide
5 year old Santina has been diagnosed an inoperable tumour. This is obviously a sudden and tragic situation to be in and the family (Kaitaia residents) are in Auckland for at least the next 6 weeks. The way forward is still unclear but we are trusting God for a great outcome.
Anyone who has been through a family trauma involving long spells in the hospitals knows that it can be an emotionally and financially taxing experience. Hopefully, as a community we can help to take any pressure created as a result of not working for 6 weeks (or more). Also, who knows what the future holds and what demands there may be on the family to travel between Kaitaia and Auckland and the cost this may be.
We are part of the church family with the Manuel's and was teaching at the school (Kaitaia Abundant Life School) that Santina is part of.
Update 11/3/14 11 March 2015
The result of the meeting with the doctors was that although the tumour is inoperable, radiation treatment is soon to begin. Santina and family will return home for a few days this week before commencing the treatment.
