This page was set up to help save others from accidental drowning. If lifesaving clubs had more funds they could buy more equipment.

Bay of Plenty

On the 13th of February 2011, We lost my sister to an accidental drowning at Whiritoa Beach.

It is something that we will never forget or get over.

Sarah Nicholson was a bright bubbly teacher at John Paul College in Rotorua and was loved by all her students.

It was because of them that she had the passion to teach.

There have been more and more accidental drownings and this needs to stop. Our lifesavers risk there lives every day to go out and help strangers who are in trouble, and quite often they do not have the necessary equipment.

I would like to raise some funds to help Whiritoa Surf Lifesaving club to purchase some equipment that may someday save someone else's life.

Unfortunately my sister couldn't be saved but she would love to know that others will not have to suffer like we have.

I'm involved in this because I want to help save people's lives.

I wish every day that my sister was still alive but she would be proud to know that others are supporting this cause.

We still remember when we heard the tragic news about Sarahs drowning. She had been on a JPC school camp with our younger son at the Mount the year before and made the camp so much fun with her enthusiasm. Just wanted to do something and let Emma know we still think and appreciate Sarah.
