Please help raise funds for Sienna's medical expenses to give her the best shot possible.
Southland
Sienna Grace was born at 37 weeks gestation with Orofaciodigital Syndrome Type 1. Undiagnosed in pregnancy, her multiple medical conditions only became apparent shortly after birth when she was rushed to NICU. OFDS1 affects approximately 1 in 250,000 girls worldwide, and is fatal for boys. As far as we know she is the only girl in New Zealand with it. Now aged 15 months, Sienna has undergone two operations, one at 5 months old and another at 9 months old with more ahead once she is bigger and stronger. She spent the first 13 months of her life sleeping with a cardio-respitory monitor. Between Southland Hospital and Dunedin Hospital Sienna is under the care of multiple surgeons, specialists, doctors and therapists. We are now waiting on a scan of her kidneys as she is at risk of developing Polycystic Kidney Disease and may go into renal failure, resulting in a transplant. The cost of travel, accommodation, medication and rehabilitation/therapy has run into the thousands to date. Any donations received to help with Sienna's medical expenses and care would be greatly appreciated by her family.
The Windsor North School Care Committee has created this page, because Sienna's two older brothers are students at Windsor North School. The Care Committee organise and encourage our school community to chip in and support Windsor North School families and staff when they are in need.
2 weeks post op #3 31 August 2015
Hi everyone :-) Leah here (Sienna's Mum). Sienna had her third operation In Dunedin on the 14th August, and I am pleased to say she is doing fantastic! It made such a huge difference, no more pain, no more infections, she can balance again, and she is back to her happy crazy cheerful self :-) We are away to Dunedin again in November for another post op check, and then preparation will begin for operation number 4 which is planned for early 2016. That one will be a big one, but it will be for the greater good for my precious wee girl <3 The road ahead is still long, but each day we wake up is a day I am blessed to have such a brave, courageous and beautiful little girl in my life. Thank you all for you donations to date, it is very much appreciated. Love to all Sienna's supporters and followers :-)
