Oscar was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on his 4th birthday. Please help this wonderful family during Oscar's long treatment.
Auckland
Oscar was diagnosed on his 4th birthday in March 2015, with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) -(Hypodiploid). This is a rare type of ALL, it is a very aggressive child cancer which can often become resistant to chemotherapy. Oscars best hope of surviving this cancer is to have a bone marrow transplant. At which time he will be in isolation in Starship hospital for up to six weeks with only his Mum Emma or Dad Marc able to have contact.
Oscar is your typical 4 year old boy who loves Spiderman and Lego and is adored by his little brother Max (who has just turned one). Emma and Marc have shown amazing strength throughout this ordeal that has rocked their family. They are totally dedicated to caring for Oscar and Max, which means they are unable to work and Max can not be enrolled in childcare due to the risk of him bringing home bugs.
All proceeds raised will go towards helping Emma and Marc pay their mortgage and bills while they are unable to work.
Please give generously to help support this beautiful family so they can focus all their energy and time on helping Oscar beat Leukaemia.
There is no cure for this type of Leukaemia, the only hope is a bone marrow transplant so we’re also encouraging people to consider becoming a bone marrow donor. If you’d like to help a child like Oscar by joining the NZ Bone Marrow Registry visit http://www.bonemarrow.org..nz/join-now/
We are a group of a friends from coffee group wanting to help in some small way.
Thank you everyone.... 20 September 2015
A massive thank you to everyone. Marc and I have been humbled by people's generosity and amazing support throughout our journey. The money raised has helped us focus on Oscars transplant and ongoing recovery without the stress of worrying about money it had been a god send so thank you!
Oscar is doing really well, he made it through his bone marrow transplant with only a few minor complications and the new stem cells continue to graft which is positive. While we still have a long way to go till Oscar is considered "cured" we are on the right track and we couldn't have done this without you all.
Pictures of Oscar and Max playing at the hospital playroom ... Just one example where due to everyone's generosity Marc and I can spend time quality time with our boys
