Please join me in supporting my colleague and dear friend, Emily Inch through her 2nd battle with breast cancer.
Auckland
On Friday 13 March (Yes, Black Friday), I will be shaving my head to show my support and to raise funds to help Emily and her family as she goes through her treatment. In doing so, I also hope to raise awareness of breast cancer in women of all ages...
Six years ago, at only 25 years old, Emily was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer which required an immediate partial mastectomy and months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
In 2013, she was given the 'all clear', but unfortunately this good news was short-lived...
Mid last year, Emily was diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene (which markedly increases the risk of breast cancer) and while waiting for preventative surgery (a double mastectomy), more tumours appeared and she has since had a full mastectomy. She is now faced with a 2nd round of chemotherapy and other treatments and more surgery to remove the remaining breast, this time while raising a young son, running the family household and holding down her teaching job.
Emily is only 31 years old...
Please help support Emily by sponsoring me when I shave my head. Even the smallest amount will be greatly appreciated and will help ease the load in this difficult time.
I am Emily's work colleague and friend who wants to support her through this difficult time while raising awareness of breast cancer in women of all ages.
