The Casey's appreciate any contribution you are able to give so they can focus on Charlie's recovery and on going rehabilitation.
Auckland
“There was nothing the driver could do when a truck trailer unhooked and swung into his path and hit the car head on, causing multiple injuries to the occupants and putting 11-year-old Charlie in a critical condition at Starship Hospital.
Thankfully, three surgeries later, and with more to come, Charlie’s injuries are beginning to mend, but there is a long road ahead for him and his family. His right leg and hip have been shattered and he will require months of rehabilitation once he gets out of hospital.
For now, his mum Tania is at his hospital bed, unable to return to her job while Charlie recovers. Charlie’s dad Martin is blind. He was fortunate to survive the collision but with concussion is unable to return to his part-time job teaching guitar and keeping things running at home.
Meanwhile the bills are piling up, and the family is finding it difficult to cope. They are very thankful for the wonderful support they’ve received from friends and family, and the close-knit Warkworth community.
They could really use a little help to get them through the next few months.”
I have loaded all the information for the Casey Family while they are recovering I have their permission to do so.
Nothing is known at this point regarding what if anything ACC will contribute.
The funds raised will go towards the cost of living whilst both parents are unable to work.
Home! 13 February 2018
The Casey’s are now home, Charlie has a few surgeries left but is happy to be in his house with his family and cats!
Rehabilitation will start in six weeks after the removal of the leg rods holding his bones together. They are overwhelmed by this close knit community and your support and generosity. The messages in particular have been very uplifting and helped them get through the terrible moments. They wish to thank you.
