The Tangkahan Effect endeavours to raise funds for different projects for a small village in Northern Sumatra.

We are four community minded individuals, passionate about the well being of a small village in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Christie and Nat have been lucky enough to visit this village several times, over the past few years, and were overwhelmed with the effect it had on them with it’s isolated location, unique community spirit and it’s tranquil surrounds. Hendra and Edy are Tangkahan locals, and are an essential source of information on the ground in the village.

The funds raised will go to different projects. From the Elephants to the community run English Club for the children, to castration of cats and dogs and so much more. Please visit the 'updates' page to learn about our projects.

Natalie Townsend's involvement (page creator)

After successfully assisting with sourcing materials for the elephants to increase their safety and health management, in February, we learned that the Ele's need so much more! However we are currently working on many different projects that need your help.

Should there be one specific area you'd like to assist in please donate and add in the comments / message area where you'd like the funds sent to. We will ensure the monies are directed to that area.

Capturing a moment of a lifetime - Camera Purchase  26 April 2015

Our aim for the next fundraiser is to raise money to purchase the perfect camera to film the births of the 3 expectant Ele's.

How exciting would it be to watch Augustine give birth in September 2015!???

We have 60 days to raise enough funds to purchase and build our camera.

The camera will need to live in a water proof casing and because the electricity is unreliable we will be having a battery pack - generator, built.

We have professionals researching the best options, once we have more details as to the type of camera, we will share them with you.
