$2,986 of $2,000 goal
Given by 38 generous donors in around 8 months

As part of their epic international experience, Cam, Dan and Dave need to raise $2000 for charity.

International

In July and August of this year, three mates, Cam, Dan and Dave, are participating in a charity event known as the Mongol Rally. While not a race as the name would suggest, the event involves teams from around the world driving from London, UK to Ulan Ude, Russia, just past the Mongolian/Russian border over the period of roughly one month, a distance of over 10,000 miles and 9 different time zones.

The rules of the Mongol Rally are simple. There is no set route, nor set finish date, only a start date and an end point. The shortest time for a team to complete the rally is 17 days, and the longest to complete it was two years. While the event would be reasonably easy to complete with a modern vehicle and GPS, the Adventurists (the people responsible for organizing the event) wanted to challenge participants and set up the following rule: Cars MUST be less the 1200cc, and should be less than 1000cc, and GPS units are to be avoided.

A further stipulation is that each team raises a minimum of £1000 for charity, with half of that going to Cool Earth, and the rest going to a charity of the teams choosing, Alzheimers New Zealand.

We intend to raise this money from a number of sources: family and friends, t-shirt sales, donation pledges (they donate if we complete a challenge of their choosing/design), and sponsorship from companies around New Zealand (they can pay to have their logos on the car or even pay to change our team name).

We have purchased our trusty steed, a 1996 Citroen AX, and intend to decorate it with logos from our sponsors. If you are interested in this, please get in touch!

We have a few options available for donating:

$10 - Puncture Raffle

Guess the km distance that we will receive our first puncture that requires us to remove the tyre. To choose this option copy and paste this link into the address bar:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t_Dw0RZkAuYSFlx-scfi5Z61I6oKge1vmGtuMwmtfNQ/edit?usp=sharing

and choose the distance you think it will happen by writing your name in the second column (to make sure no-one else has chosen this distance and to see what others have chosen). Then donate and in the comments of your donation include "Puncture Raffle Distance: XXX to YYY km"

$20 - Postcard from our Journey

For a donation of $20 we will send you a postcard from the country of your choice. To choose this option, donate, and in the comments of your donation state the country that you would like to receive a postcard from. We'll then get in touch with you and get some address details.

$?? - Propose a challenge

This could be as simple as trying a cultural dish in a given country, or as extreme as dropping one of our team members off in an unknown city and telling them to meet us in the next city using only public trnasport. The harder the challenge the greater the donation. Simple. To go ahead with this choice send us a message on Facebook or describe your challenge in the Q&A section and we will take care of you.
