Help Diana leave a uni fund for her 10-year-old son David

To those who have contributed to the fund for David Watts Balham in memory of his mother Diana, huge thanks. This page closes October 2.

Auckland

Diana Balham was a special person who asked for nothing and was self-effacing. Over the years she worked hard and made a real mark with her writing. In June she discovered she had cancer. In August she learned it was terminal and she passed away September 8. In true fashion in her last days she got on with doing what needed to be done with the help of her husband Derek Watts. It took a while for her to accept the offer of setting up this page, but Diana said the opportunity to leave a university fund for her 10-year-old son David is just such a wonderful chance that she was grateful for any support offered. Diana passed away September 8.

We never got to say goodbye but I am so glad you found happiness with Derek and "wee Davey" in your later years. I'll miss our sparring, your quick wit, your beautiful smile and most of all, your kind and caring nature . Gone far too soon. Travel well dear friend until we meet in the next life. For once I'll get the last word(s)....."Possums for Ever!" My thoughts are also with Derek, Big Dave and wee Davey. Bryan Nicolson, Brisbane
