Families in Desperate Need - Our school mates from Vanuatu - Kaloris and Sakie's families need help after Cyclone Pam.
International
Please give a little to help out our mates from Huntly College in Vanuatu during the disaster of Cyclone Pam. They will know exactly where help is needed in their villages.
Kaloris Kalangis and Sakie Louis attended Huntly College with many of us in the 1980's, and played a big part in our school life, productions, music, theater, sport and getting into trouble with us (usually from the School Head Mistress they lived with!).
We've all seen the devastation on Vanuatu and we can't imagine the suffering their kids and families must be going through.
100% of funds raised will be shared directly with Kaloris and Saki in the coming weeks to do with as they see best.
Their friends, Duane Wilkins and Karen Anslow are co-signees on a trust account to temporarily hold the funds.
Have a look on our updates page - Duane's put up a Saxophone, and soon we have a beautiful genuine tribal Afghan hand knotted rug bought in a Kabul Market.
Sorry we are not a registered charity or a tax bla bla.
ANZ account details available on request. All transfers to the guys will be posted online as a full and transparent disclosure.
Please check out our other fundraiser!
Karl and Sakie were some of my best mates at school, and finally got to speak briefly with Kaloris 23/03/15 - they pretty much lost everything. It was one of the hardest conversations of my life.
Saki had more patience and was a better builder and painter than Kaloris - I never saw him hit a nail straight. In fact I think it was they that taught me to swear.
I can't do much from here, but I know they will appreciate every little thing we can do. I am grateful for the support of friends on Facebook for supporting this cause to be setup.
And I am really annoyed I cant remember any of the insulting politically incorrect names we used to hurl at each other, because I know they were good ones dammit.

Hi folks. I was able to speak at length with Kaloris tonight.
He has tried to get ahold of Sakie and left messages, but no word yet as hes likely out and deployed with the relief work, or may have lost his mobile in the Cyclone.
With my other fundraiser, eventual sale of the rug and saxophone I am confident we can raise a little over $2000.
After discussion with Kaloris and Karen Anslow, we have decided/agreed, I will ask the bank for a personal overdraft of $1000 (until the GiveALittle fund comes through on the 25th April, and get the money to Kaloris asap before the weekend this week (2nd April 2015). When the GiveALittle foundation transfers the first chunk on the 25th I'll clear my overdraft.
Kaloris and the community is in need of a chainsaw.
There are many trees all over the place, around the village, and their around families homes.
A STIHL MS250 is available locally for a little under $1000 and after discussing with him, we have agreed it is a good use of the money. Kaloris hasn't really started on the cleanup around his home yet as he has been busy helping the community, and employees getting the business back up and running.
He's very cognizant of the perception of any inappropriate use of the influx of donor funds. We will post receipts and transactions online. He'll also get his kids to take some photos and we'll see if we can upload them next week.
Your message will be displayed on the page and emailed to the donor.
