Please support our upcoming multicultural event: Diversity Festival 2019.
Wellington
We are Vic Without Barriers, a refugee-background students initiative at the Victoria University of Wellington, created to provide support for students with refugee-backgrounds. We believe that everyone has a right to feel like they belong at university and foster community.
Refugee-background students have been attending New Zealand universities for dozens of years. Today, over 200 students with refugee-backgrounds are enrolled at VUW and that number stands to increase as the refugee quota increases in 2020.
This year, we are having our first-annual multicultural event in partnership with the various refugee-backgrounds communities, under the theme: Diversity Festival 2019. We are hoping to expand our outreach and invite members of the greater Wellington community, (our family, friends, and any interested members of the public) to experience and learn more about the diversity of cultures that are represented in the referee-backgrounds communities, and meet members of our club.
We excited to show you the values, cultures, and talents (food, singing, dancing, skit, modelling, etc.) that people from refugee-backgrounds has to offer, but we need your help to achieve our goal!
