I’ve taken on the challenge of a 20km adventure run across the Kaimai mountain range on 28 March to raise money for cancer research.
Nationwide
I haven’t run before but I told my sister, as she went through an exhaustive series of cancer treatments, I would do it and raise money for Dr Swee Tan’s team at Gillies McIndoe. She was the first to donate.
The run starts at Wairere Falls and climbs 380m up beside the highest waterfall in the North Island. The next 8kms is a rugged track with roots and river crossings. The final 6kms are what the website refers to as “free flowing” through beautiful bush and finishes at Aongatete Lodge.
My friend Diana is joining me and together we got a plan and have, since November 2014 been getting these bodies moving again. I have been plagued by tendonitis in my gluteus muscle but have switched to swimming, biking and stretching and that seems to be helping.
Gillies McIndoe Research Institute is committed to a breakthrough in cancer treatment other than invasive treatments like surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Please donate and thank you for visiting this page. Jennie and Diana
