I'm fighting to raise funds for Pillars as part of the UCSA's Charity Fight Night during Re-O Week.
Canterbury
As some of you may be aware, I have signed up to participate in The UCSA’s Charity Fight night as part of Re-O week. Yes, really, I know! That means 8 weeks of training, raising at least $500 for my chosen charity, getting in the ring and fighting another girl and stepping so far out of my comfort zone I can’t even see it anymore!
I have chosen to fundraise for a charity called Pillars. Pillars is a charity dedicated to providing mentors for children who have a parent in prison and overall support for the family unit. With over 20,000 children of prisoners who need support in New Zealand, this is a cause that I know is incredibly important in helping break the cycle of crime. Without proper support these children are approximately 7 x more likely to end up in prison than other kiwi kids. To find out more about Pillars you can visit https://www.facebook.com/Pillars.inc or their website http://www.pillars.org.nz.

Thank you so much Katy for choosing Pillars as your charity to fight for, and thank you to all who have donated to support Katy. Every cent goes direct to helping Pillars support children of prisoners for a positive future. Go hard with your training Katy, and remember, the greatest battle is won, you decided to step in the ring for charity, train hard and keep up the good fight for kids who really need our support. Dave Letele, aka Brown Buttabean, Pillars ambassador. (was a child of a prisoner in his own life and supports Pillars to help kids just like him to have a positive future).
