I need your help to support my national tour in Jan/Feb 2015 and help bring my music to a wider audience.

Nationwide

THE PROJECT:

I am aiming to complete a detailed national tour of NZ in order to apply for a $10,000 NZ On Air Grant next year. I have 30 dates booked across the country in Jan and Feb of 2015. See them here:

www.christineolive.com/shows

I am calling out to friends, family, fans and those who are inspired by my journey to pledge for music gear and a van for this tour.

ABOUT ME:

I grew up in West Auckland and have been playing music for almost 10 years. At 12 or so I started learning the violin and quickly took up the drums and guitar. I began to perform regularly at 16 and by 18 I was ready to move to Australia to pursue further music opportunity. Unfortunately I suffered an illness called Graves Disease and have not been able to work for almost 2 years. I am back in NZ and feel blessed to be exposed to wonderful grant opportunities here.

BACKGROUND:

After experimenting with bands and duos as a young teenager I found that the singer/songwriter setup worked best for me. I have always been passionate about the environment growing up with my dad who is a climate change engineer and I was involved in many local community initiatives around West Auckland that promoted sustainability. Through surfing I met more ‘environmentalists' and was inspired to start writing songs that expressed my values for equality and eco-awareness.

The past year I have been voluntarily performing at shows for the Surfrider Foundation and through an environmental project I started with dad I performed in the Philippines on Sep 13.

The concert was secured by the army and it raised funds for an eco-adventure park that was affected by the massive earthquake there last year before Typhoon Haiyan.

THE BIG DREAM:

Through giving I have re-found my musical path and want to continue developing my sound. Whilst in the Philippines I was privileged to record my debut album ‘For Shore’ which showcases my passion for acoustic, coastal and electronic music. I was also able to record with some equipment that I found really worked for me but unfortunately cannot play these songs on my tour without the following:

BUDGET:

(As quoted at Rockshop and Musicworks)

- HK Audio Lucas Nano 300 230W Active Portable PA System $1095

- Roland BK3 Backing Keyboard $1199

- Boss RC300 Loop Station Looper 3 Stereo Loop Tracks $999

- Interface M-Audio Fast Track Pro Tools $199

- Stomp Box SX Foot Pickup $69

- Cables $100

- Gibraltar SCCBPM Cowbell Pedal Mount $59.95

- Gilbratar single bass drum pedal strap drive 4711St $69.95

- Luna High Tide Concert koa ukelele $499

Van: $3000 (I am saving for half of this)

Total needed: $5800

TIMELINE:

I am playing some local shows in November and December to kick off my tour but really need the equipment and van for tour dates from the 3rd Jan – 1st March.

SUPPORTER JOURNEY:

I want to keep my supporters informed first and on top of weekly updates I will also be doing a little feature about life on the road and what it is really like.

With every donation you will automatically go into the draw to win a free signed album and tickets to your nearest show during the tour.

More good-karma give-backs:

$15 = digital album

$30 = signed album posted to your door (first 40 only & NZ address required)

$50 – digital album and free ticket

$100 – signed album posted to your door, free ticket and a thank you on my website.

$200 – all of the above and a listing in my next record booklet.

$500 –all of the above + a personalised cover song.

$1000 – all of the above + a private concert at your house at a time that suits us both + a surfing lesson if you live near waves

$2000 – All of the above + a free corporate event + a lifetime supply of a ticket to any of my concerts.

$3000 - All of the above + lifetime supply of 2 tickets to any of my concerts + my undying love (if I haven’t died of a heart attack from your level of gratitude).

Day 9 - TIME FLIES  5 December 2014

Hey all!

sorry for the late update. I have been suuuper busy. Not only contacting you amazing souls who have so generously helped to get me over the 1k mark but also doing a press release this week (for a local newspaper 'The Western Leader' - i grew up reading this one hahaha) and also kicking off the first gig of the tour.

Thanks to my mum I have successfully made a little bit of merch which I might keep to myself for starters.. I think it will be a good 'uniform' for me atm haha. I am looking at getting some really nice shirts printed post-tour- organic cotton and fairtrade and all that jazz. This has always been my dream. Anywho maybe if you're lucky I will give away one of the exclusive shirts we have so far.. we'll see!!

Although I can feel that horrible chunk of stress on my back getting lighter while the certainty of being able to make the dates I have booked grows stronger, there is still a little bit more fundraising to do.

First goal is to get to $1800 - this is where Spark will start matching donations. Fundamentally, if you guys can help me raise about 3.5k, Spark will throw in the rest. I think that's awesome. Isn't that awesome? Thank you SPARK.

And thank YOU for reading this, donating, following my journey.. this experience so far has already become quite an emotional one for me as i reconnect with old friends, re-acquaint myself as a musician in my old home country and receive daily messages of support from people i haven't seen in years but who have been following my journey.

"When there is a will, there is a way." I don't know who said this but it has pretty much been getting me through this hectic week - hardly any sleep, my bones are at like .43290% now from lack of movement and being by the computer non-stop all day (in between feeble attempts to practice for my second Auckland gig this Sunday at the Coatesville Markets - be there or be square..). Thank GOODNESS I am headed to my beloved Piha beach to catch some much-MUCH- needed waves tomorrow. I will share some photos...

A lot of love and light - straight from the soul
