My 14th birthday is on the 19th of July and this year I really hope to get DNA testing done. Knowing my ethnicity would be really special.

My name is Ruth Buckland. I am an African who was adopted, from Soweto (Johannesburg), when I was 4 weeks old. When I was one years old, we moved to New Zealand.

As I don't have any knowledge of my biological parents, I have often wondered about the details of my ethnicity. With DNA testing being available, I would really like to get as much information about my family background as I can.

Use of funds

The DNA test will cost between $150 and $200. If more than my goal is raised, the extra money will go towards my braces which it looks like I will be getting later this year.
