The Canterbury-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and West Coast-based NZCC Rescue Helicopter are ready to respond 24/7, 365 days a year. We cover the largest, single geographical area in New Zealand; watching over the lives of more than 600,000 people. Last year the crew responded to nearly 1,000 emergency call outs including medical emergencies, leisure accidents and motor vehicle accidents

In remote and rural areas, Air Rescue provides a life-line; often making the difference between life and death.

The Air Rescue Trust is only 50% government funded and relies on the community to keep this vital service going.
