Natalie’s battle. Let’s fight this brain cancer!!!!

$4,165 of $90,000 goal
Given by 40 generous donors in around 4 months

Natalie, a mother, grandmother, partner, friend. Needs $90,000 to undergo life enhancing surgery, and drugs to prolong Natalie's life.

Northland

Natalie was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme GBM) in August 2017.

Natalie is 55 years old, has a loving partner, Gavin, and a beautiful daughter Erin and granddaughter Poppy who live in the UK. Before this diagnosis Natalie was planning to visit them for Christmas 2017.

Natalie is a wonderful person who has so much to live for and so much to give. Natalie enjoys the simple things in life and always put others before herself. So now we’re asking for people to give to Natalie, she deserves it.

The prognosis with this type of cancer is typically 12-15 months. The tumour is potentially operable but only in America or Europe and this gives Natalie the best chance at a long and happy life. Treatment options in New Zealand are limited. We are preparing for the fight of our lives.

Natalie’s best chance is to fight this cancer involves tumour reduction. An amazing process known as Stereotactic surgery would remove a significant part of the tumour and help prolong her life but it is only available privately.

In addition to the surgery we would like Natalie to undertake holistic treatments to improve her quality of life such as attending a cancer awareness retreat http://gawler.org/retreats-and-services/cancer-retreats-and-services and taking herbal supplements such as TBL-12. Natalie may also require Avastin which is not funded through the public health system.

The total cost of Natalie’s surgery and ongoing treatments is estimated to be at NZ$90,000.

From Natalie's partner, Gavin

"It’s heart-breaking watching someone you love endure the brutal and unforgiving regime of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It is a truly humbling experience asking strangers to donate money and in an ideal world Natalie’s life (or anyone’s for that matter) should not have to be measured in dollars.

I will continue to fundraise independently for the wonderful McMillan cancer society who have been so supportive. We wouldn’t have gotten this far without them.

My life’s goal is to ensure that Natalie continues to live a wonderful and enriched life and raise awareness of this devastating disease"

Due to medical reasons, Mark Cooke, Natalie's brother in law will be receiving the funds in his bank account to manage for Natalie.

Use of funds

The funds raised for Natalie will be used to privately fund Stereotactic surgery, holistic treatments to improve her quality of life, herbal supplements and some drugs not funded through the public health system.

The total cost of Natalie’s surgery and ongoing treatments is estimated to be at NZ$90,000.
