I've qualified for the ASP World Longboard Titles on Hainan Island - please help me get there!
Nationwide
Being the first Kiwi to qualify for the ASP World Longboard Titles was incredibly exciting. Placing 9th in the World in 2013 and automatically re-qualifing to compete at the 2014 ASP World Longboard Titles was even better.
"Thomas Kibblewhite (NZ) provided the day’s biggest upset when he defeated number 2 seed Ned Snow in an early Round 3 heat. Kibblewhite would eventually fall to Peru’s Piccolo Clemente in a close Round 5 encounter. This is Kibblewhite’s first ASP World Longboard Tour event and his giant killing efforts have been impressive."

The 2014 ASP WLT takes place from the 5th to the 12th of December on Hainan Island, China. While I've been very lucky to have the on-going support of product sponsors, I do not have any financial sponsors and so would really appreciate your assistance in helping me get there!
All funds raised toward my goal will go toward flights and accommodation - if I'm lucky enough to raise in excess of my goal, this will be spent on food and other travel expenses. To be able to compete at the pinnacle event for my sport is an amazing opportunity for me and I'm doing all I can to bring home the title. I'm currently deep into my training regime, and am going surfing as often as possible while balancing running my surf craft repair business Ding King.
As an Auckland local, I'm passionate about being a role model for the next generation of competitors, encouraging them to set their goals high and inspiring them through my own successes. As part of this, for a number of years I've been involved in the Orewa Longboard Club and would like to thank the OLBC for it's support and the part it's played in honing my competitive surfing skills.
My other credentials include:
- 2011 NZ National Longboard Champion
- 2012 NZ National Longboard Champion
- 2012 Hyundai Longboard Tour Winner
- 2014 NZ National Longboard Champion.
