At the beginning of July '14 Jewel started displaying neurological symptoms. This dog deserves a diagnosis so I'm not giving up!
Nationwide
My little 2yr old staffy x, Jewel, started displaying neurological symptoms July 2nd 2014. To date we have spent over $7000 on different tests and treatments trying to find out what is wrong with her. While we haven't got a diagnosis, we have ruled out alot of possible causes.
Last weekend (18/19 Oct) I was certain I was going to lose her. She became so sick, with a temp of 40.1 and wouldn't eat, drink or move. I took her into the animal emergency centre and within 2 days she had picked up enough to come back home, where I thought I would need to have her put to sleep. But while her neuro symptoms have increased, her general wellbeing has improved as the week has gone on. This has inspired me to keep looking into what is going on, maybe there is still hope we can find a diagnosis/cure.
Jewel is the most deserving dog, she has the most gentle loving nature. Ask any of the vets or nurses who have dealt with her during this awful time! Her story is a tear jerker, she was rescued as a pup with a life threatening neck injury from a $2 shop collar that was put on her as a young pup and left on her for months. It is the worst neck injury the SPCA had ever seen. She was lucky enough to to be picked up by Mark Vette and his team were able to rehabilitate and train her to be the amazing dog she is now. Please help me to keep helping her, I don't want to lose her yet.
