Please help us pay for treatment and relieve some of the financial stress that my family are about to face as Aaron battles cancer

Auckland

LATEST UPDATE: On the 9th of July 2019 Aaron was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer with little chance of surgery as the tumour was between 25 to 28cm big unfortunately since starting this page the battle continues with Aaron now been unable to swallow food or liquids anymore and has since been hospitalized. he had to have a feeding tube put down his nose and into his stomach to allow him to be feed but due to the radiation, this has since been changed as the radiation can damage the tube and cause his tumour to bleed. Aaron now has to be feed by a gastro tube which was surgically placed into the side of his stomach. since Aaron has been hospitalized we have learnt that the tumour has gotten bigger and blocked his whole oesophagus within the short period since he was diagnosed. Aaron is in a great deal of pain and we don't know how long he will have to remain in the hospital. Every week special medications are having to be paid for as they are not funded by the government which is putting the family in a great deal of financial stress. this is having a massive impact on his two children, his daughter has been admitted to hospital recently suffering seizures and is just been diagnosed with anxiety attacks. All his children want to do is help and to be able to travel to the hospital to have quality time with their dad and make memories, but due to the cost of everything, this is preventing very hard for this to happen. To be able to make Aaron comfortable as possible and get him the medication and treatment he needs to fight this cancer and get him home with his family where he belongs.

our story so far my stepdad Aaron aged 49 years old was diagnosed with what we thought was a bad case of reflux by our medical practitioner but after more time has past and the medication he was given didn't seem to be helping so we seek further medical advice. As he couldn't swallow and eating meals became a challenge causing him to gag and choke on his food. Two weeks ago Aaron was sent for an endoscopy and biopsy and it was on that dreadful day that we were informed Aaron has oesophageal adenocarcinoma also known as cancer of the oesophagus. Aaron and my mum attended an appointment on Monday with surgeons and have been told the tumour is bigger than first anticipated and that it is critically close to his windpipe and aorta. we have been advised that he has to have a pet scan to determine if cancer has spread to his liver or other organs of his body. we have also been advised that surgery isn't going to be an option due to how close to his windpipe and aorta. due to all of this, he has had to give up work which has put major financial stress on the family. Aaron has to have special medication which is very costly he also has to have special drinks and food to make sure he can still eat and drink in order to keep his strength up as he is going to have to deal with and endure endless counts of chemo and radiation with little hope of recovery. my family already had a stressful life as my parents are raising my brother who is autistic and has disabilities and my younger sister who is epileptic without now having to deal with the added strain of cancer my dad now is facing.

all funds raised will go towards medical costs and also the specialized food and drinks medication Aaron needs on a daily basis to give him the best possible chance as he embarks on this devastating journey he now has to face.

Please help give Aaron the gift of precious time with his family   28 November 2019

Aaron was diagnosed with throat cancer in June of this year he under went rounds of extensive chemo and radiation to try and shrink the tumor in order for it to be removed safely as time past we hoped and preyed that the radiation and chemo had worked but with a heavy heart we found out today that the treatment has not worked and in fact the cancer has spread to other parts of his body which has now left him terminal doctors have given him a time frame of 2 to 6 months to live as he is not eligible for surgery and told nothing can be done, any treatment from here on is palliative. so we would like to put forward and ask for help with the hope in helping relieve some of the financial stress that they are facing and also to help give Aaron that special time with his family to create memories for his wife children and his many grandchildren to cherish and remember before its to late
