Achilles Tauranga Athlete Stevie Jensen (both Deaf and Blind) has secured an amazing Sponsor to get to the New York city Marathon 2020.
We now need to fundraise to get his running Guide Nikki there. Also the entry fee of $550.
The funds will go towards paying for the $5400 Marathon Tours package.
Also the entry of $550
A Message from Stevie
"It’s my dream to go to New York City Marathon and since March 2019, Nikki has been training hard with me every week. She’s so amazing and I can’t do the NY marathon without her guiding because I am deaf and blind, which requires help to navigate the marathon course."
Stevie Jensen needs to travel and compete with a Guide that he knows and trusts- due to his Dual loss of both Hearing and Vision.
Nikki has trained and raced with Stevie throughout 2019. Which included guiding him in 3 x Half Marathons.
There is a video documentary being produced by Andy Taylor on Stevie Jensen's amazing Journey to compete in the New York City Marathon (part of this footage can be viewed on this page)
We now need help to get his Guide Nikki there.
Achilles NZ provides New Zealanders with disabilities the opportunity to participate alongside able-bodied athletes in local, national and international events.
Marathon Tours package cost $5400
If exceed this amount- travel insurance, extra food costs.
If things don't go to plan- funds to Achilles Tauranga for costs of entry fees, travel to events in NZ. Guiding equipment. First-aid kits. GPS trackers.
