Active and POP! A website raising awareness about Pelvic organ prolapse in NZ and where to find help.
Bay Of Plenty
Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) is a common condition. It affects approximately 50 percent of all women - maybe your mother, sister, wife, partner, daughter; or even you. It affects our family, work and social life. And yet, due to its location in the body, an intimate area, it is not talked about.
We decided to talk about it and raise awareness!
Collecting stories from active women around New Zealand who have experienced a prolapse and gaining feedback from a range of pelvic health physiotherapists resulted in the Active and POP website. Women share their experiences and offer advice on something they thought would never happen to them.
Together, we talk about POP to raise awareness and remove the stigma. We provide links to helpful resources. Most importantly, we want women to know that they are not alone and that they can live an active life again!
We are looking for funding contributions to help cover ongoing running costs of the website.
The money will help cover ongoing running costs of the website (website designer, website hosting company, both NZ companies).
Nearly half way there! :-) 22 November 2021
Thank you very much for your support everyone. Check out five new stories - all from women who had a prolapse in their 30s. Reading about their journey (and the strength they found) makes me realise how lucky I was not having to deal with babies and toddlers at the same time as POP! Please feel free to share the page and link. https://www.activeandpop.org.nz/blog/tag/28600/POP+30-39/
