To support Braeden, diagnosed on 16/10/21 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and beginning his chemotherapy journey.
Nationwide
Braeden is 25yrs old and recently moved to Wellington from Hamilton. He was happily flatting with mates, got himself a job and even a girlfriend! We visited him for the first time last week combining it with my (mum's), birthday. The morning we were leaving to return home to Tauranga, we took him for a blood test which his doctor had recommended due to an ongoing cough. You can only imagine our shock when he phoned a couple of hours later to say, "They think I have leukaemia."
Braeden is our beautiful 25 year old son who has just been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL)
Helping us with travel and accommodation costs so we can be close to our boy while he undergoes treatment.
Heart-felt thanks 15 April 2022
As this page is due to finish, I wanted to take the opportunity to say a heart-felt thank you to everyone who has been there for our whanau over the last 6 months. From donations to hugs, please know that every gesture has been truly appreciated.
Braeden is unfortunately back in hospital at the moment, battling a high temperature which is most likely a reaction to one of the many medications he is on and although it is frustrating for him, the doctors expect he will recover soon and can move back to Margaret Stewart House where he is currently living with his dad. We are so grateful for this amazing facility provided by the Cancer Society and only 3 minutes from the hospital.
I'd be lying if I said we haven't found it tough. This is the longest Dennis and I have been apart in 33 years!! Thank God for video calls as this allows us to at least see and chat to each other every day.
Our lives have changed: Dennis is unemployed, we're living in separate cities, I'm even learning to manage my finances (shock, horror!), but none of this matters because our boy is slowly recovering and to be honest, that's all that counts!! When you face challenges in your life, you soon learn what your priorities actually are.
Lastly, to my brave, strong and courageous boy, I love you unconditionally forever and always xxx
We are blown away by everyone's kindness and generosity. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts!!
