A non-profit student-lead project to rural Fiji villages, to provide health screening, promotion and education and clean water supply.
Auckland
Hello there! My name is Amy Ga Hee Lee and I am a third year medical student studying at the University of Auckland.
In December this year, I will be travelling on a volunteer trip to Fiji with other medical and nursing students from New Zealand, with a vision to help improve health outcomes in rural villages of Fiji.
The Fiji Village Project is a non-profit student initiative that involves travelling to Fiji for 2 weeks, where I will be visiting rural villages to undertake health screenings, as well as help with small structural projects such as installation of water tanks for clean water supplies. I will also be involved in health education as well as running workshops with children among other health related activities.
This trip is entirely self-funded and I will be paying for my own flights and accommodation for the trip. In addition, each individual on the team is required to fundraise a minimum of $750 to cover the costs of the water tanks for clean water supply, as well as other medical supplies we will be using for Fijian people during our trip. Any extra money will contribute towards gifts for the local people of Fiji.
The Fiji Villages Project is an incredible opportunity for like-minded students to make a difference. It is an opportunity for us to make a difference to their health and wellbeing both now and for future generations to come.
By ensuring that they have clean water supplies, this will help improve their health by reducing transmission of many infectious diseases found in unsafe, unclean water.
Through health promotion, this will help improve their health by educating them about the basic, safe health practices to encourage autonomy for a healthy community.
Your support means the world to us on the Fiji Village Project Team, but more for the local people of Fiji. Please help us towards creating lasting changes to improve health outcomes in rural Fiji. Any donation of any size is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much! Have a wonderful day!
