In July this year (2020) we will be heading to Leeuwarden, in the Netherlands to compete in the World Ultimate and Guts Championships ( www.2020wugc.com ). For years we have dreamt of sizing up to the best athletes Ultimate has to offer on the biggest stage in our sport. Our journey to make it there has so far consisted of many sacrifices to be able to prepare our bodies and minds to be the best they can be when July comes around. This is why we need your help.
Ultimate is fully self-funded in NZ and the campaign is going to cost us around $20,000 NZD. This goes towards paying for flights, training camps, staff, entry fees, uniform as well as other team fees. 10 grand each for two students who work full time between University breaks and part-time during the semester to try fund an expensive passion as well as pay University Fees. From this givealittle page, we are hoping to raise $2500 each to go towards these costs.
About Us:
Nicholas Whitlock, DOB: 7 September 1999:
I live in Auckland and have completed 2 out of 4 years of my degree at the University of Auckland studying Engineering Science. I have been playing Ultimate since 2013 and made the full-time switch from football when I was 15. Since then I have played in two U20 campaigns for NZ, including captaining the squad to 5th place in 2018, and one U24 campaign where we placed 10th. For a few years now my goal has been to become one of the best players in the country and now I am part of this campaign I feel like that goal is within my grasp, the next step is to be seen as an equal by some of my international idols, and in July; opponents. At WUGC this year I will be playing on Mānuka, the New Zealand mixed team.
Andrew Fitzpatrick-Cockram, DOB: 23rd November 1999:
I am currently living in Wellington in the 3rd year of my degree in Economics and Finance. Over the last four years my love of ultimate has grown due to its fast pace, athleticism and sportsmanship. I am privileged to have been a part of the New Zealand U20 team that placed 5th at WJUC2018 in Canada. My dream is to play at the top level in New Zealand and to compete against the best players in the world. In Leeuwarden I will be representing Taniwha, the New Zealand open team.

NZU Worlds Campaign Cancelled 23 March 2020
Hi
The New Zealand high performance committee has decided to suspend all national teams’ attendance from worlds events. Nick and I would like to offer reimbursement for any money donated as the event will not be going ahead so please contact us if you would like a refund. However, we both intend on representing NZ at U24s next year as well as future worlds events if you want the donation to go towards that.
Thank you for your support and generosity, hope you stay well.
Andrew and Nick
