Animal S.O.S. Madagascar

$1,435 donated
Given by 7 generous donors in around 10 months

Animal S.O.S. Madagascar will soon be swooping down on the streets of Madagascar and uplifting as many suffering stray dogs as possible.

Auckland

The main aim of this project is to rescue, heal, rehabilitate and adopt as many stray dogs as donated funds will allow. All animals will be given a thorough vet-check, de-sexed, treated for parasites and vaccinated against rabies. After the quarantine/ healing period at the vet clinic, they are re-housed at the shelter where they get to run in packs and enjoy the comforts of regular meals, fresh water, love and companionship. Here, they are given basic training and will hopefully get introduced to a perfectly matched new family where they will live out the rest of their days immersed in love and comfort. Animal S.O.S. Madagascar is a no-kill shelter and dogs that are not adopted are allowed to live out the rest of their days in safety, away from cars, busses, disease, intentional poisoning, continual pregnancy and abusive humans.

My daughter's and I volunteered at Animal S.O.S. Madagascar for 2 weeks at the beginning of January 2016. We encountered a hard-working, compassionate and dedicated group of individuals who work tirelessly and against great odds to rescue the stray, abandoned, diseased, injured and abused dogs from the streets and rubbish dumps of Madagascar without any government assistance. They rely solely on personal income streams and donations and gifts from friends and family. They need our help to save as many of these poor, forgotten, suffering creatures as possible.

Fotsy was a lucky dog. She was a Madagascar street puppy--unlikely to reach adulthood. Fortunately, she was adopted by my niece and taken to the United States where she lived a long and happy life. This donation is to help other street dogs like Fotsy.
