Ballet for a Boy 2016/17
Help me to attend the Boy's Ballet Summer School in Sydney, and Winter School at the NZ School of Dance.

Please help me to pay for my fees and travel expenses eg. bus, train and airfares, so I can attend the Boy's Ballet Summer School at Shore School in Sydney, this coming summer, and Winter School at the New Zealand School of Dance.
The Boy's Ballet Summer School has been a big help learning male technique. I have been over for last two summers and it has such an amazing experience. It is an all boys summer school which concentrates on ballet, contemporary and jazz dance, for boys. To be with other boys who love to dance and to be taught by very experienced and talented male teachers, I learnt so much and made some brilliant friends.
I also plan to go to Winter School at the New Zealand School of Dance which will be a great week of concentrating on ballet and some contemporary dance.
I have been dancing since before I was three years old, I love it, but it hasn't always been easy for me as I have Aspergers Syndrome which has made understanding what teachers are saying quite hard for me at times. But I have practiced heaps and really concentrated hard to get where I am today. Just spending time at the boy's summer school has improved me as a dancer and has given me loads of inspiration as I also choreograph all my own dances which I perform in competitions.
Having Aspergers, to me, is a gift, I see dance and movement differently and it comes out in my choreographies which are often called quirky and unique. I also think it helps me to teach other kids as I am able to explain things a bit differently. I love teaching and sharing my love of dance. I would love to eventually have my own school and have specialist boys classes.
I want to learn as much as I can so I can achieve my goals of becoming a professional dancer and to share my passion for dance.

Merry Christmas, and Summer School here I come!!!!! 25 December 2016
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!! I can't believe that I am off to Sydney tomorrow!!!!!! Thank you all for your help this year. Your support has been fantastic and has helped me with my dancing this year and makes it possible for me to go to Summer School. I am so excited to be flying over to Sydney to catch up with the other boys and to make new friends as there are over 65 boys attending this year. There will be new teachers too, lots to learn.
My performance at the Attitude Awards at the end of November went really well, I didn't want to leave the stage. I was really pleased with how I performed. I've added the link to this update so you can watch one of my rehearsals before the awards show.
I have had a great year of dancing and have lots of plans for next year. Have a very Happy New Year and I'll let you know how summer school went. - Salem :-)

MERRY CHRISTMAS FELIX!!!!!! I hope you have a lovely day with family and friends. We are still having plenty of aftershocks/earthquakes, some of them are quite big. Hi Felix, thank you very much for another generous donation. Hope you are well and keeping warm. Not quite summer yet, feels a lot like winter over here at the moment. We have had a lot of excitement over here - earthquakes, over 3000 aftershocks so far, flooding, power outages and a tornado. I am hoping everything returns to normal soon. Hi there Felix. Sorry I haven't thanked you earlier for your very kind donation, I must have missed the email from Givealittle :-( Thank you so much!!! I've had a very full on time with my exams, so happy with them, got 100%s and nominated for nationals in which I made it to the finals. I've got an end of year concert coming up, then performing in Auckland in front of 100s/1000s of people, and then it's off to the Boys Ballet Summer School. This year is going so quickly.
