Battling Cancer - Leon van Dyck Cancer Support
A plea for help to support Leon to beat cancer.

We are requesting your support to help Leon get the treatment needed to beat cancer.
Leon has been diagnosed with melanoma that metastasised to the brain, neck and stomach. After trying all of the funded treatments, operations and exhausting the medical aid, the doctor advised that the only other option is a BRAF inhibitor treatment that is not funded.
Leon will most likely need more surgery as the spread is still uncontrolled. The oncologist recommended Encorafenib & Binimetinib which is not funded in NZ and will cost over $65,000.00.
This treatment will make a huge difference in Leon's life and give him a better life with his daughter Elandrie and wife Leandra. Every little bit helps, so if you are in a position to donate, we would immensely appreciate your help in getting through this next stage of battling cancer.

I am Leandra, Leon's wife and we have been married for almost 17 years.
Use of funds
This money will be spent on covering the unfunded treatment Encorafenib & Binimetinib. Any additional funds will be used to help Leandra take time off work to care for Leon and get him to his follow up appointments.

It took me a while to get the strength to update this page. Unfortunately Leon passed away on 26 September 2022. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts and life will just never be normal again. Elandrie and I are trying to adjust and move forward but it is still very difficult.
Thank you for all your contributions and support, we tried to beat cancer but lost the battle. ♥️
