Help Bernard get chemotherapy treatment for his stomach cancer.
International
Bernard Omi is 39 years of age with three children. Two boys age 12, 11 and his little princess aged 1. Bernard was diagnosed with gastric cancer on the 21st of June 2018 but had been sick for a while with stomach pain and chest pain. Due to his illness he had to resign from his job as a road engineer to seek treatment for his stomach cancer. He underwent surgery at Papua New Guinea's main referral hospital Port Moresby General Hospital where they removed 97 percent of his stomach. He is recovering well but doctors advised his family for chemotherapy treatment to kill off any remaining cancer cells in his left over stomach.
Papua New Guinea does not have a chemotherapy facility to provide this treatment for my brother and we will need to travel to Philippines for him to get chemotherapy treatment. Our family are raising funds with small activities to meet his medical, accommodation and travel cost in Philippines. However time is against us and we need immediate funds so as to limit the time for the remaining cancer cells to grow.
I would like to appeal for your help as Bernard is still a young person and his children need him to be there for them. Most know him, has an easy going person with humane sympathy. He always helps his family both immediate and extended in times of need. He never says no when someone asks for his help and he has always been there for me as a big brother. I would like to help him and his family out and would like to appeal if you could assist us to get Bernard treated.
I thank you all for your sympathy, consideration and pray that God may bless you in your contributions.
Funds donated will go towards paying of medical bills for chemotherapy treatment as well as assist in meeting travel and accommodation cost in the Philippines. Funds that exceed the target will be donated to a local district hospital.
Ben's Chemotherapy fundraiser 8 October 2018
The immediate family of Bernard Omi wishes to thank all that contributed towards his cause. Although we were not able to reach the targeted amount the donations received helped out in contributing towards Bernard's fundraising to get him treated.
Bernard so far has been recovering well and has yet to get his chemotherapy treatment. He had some complications post surgery which resulted in his abdomen and legs getting swollen. Doctors had to properly treat this condition before he would get chemo.
With proper protein diet and nutrients he was able to overcome the swelling and walk again. He is so far recovering physically and we hope to see that he gains his strength back for him to get chemotherapy treatment.
