Borehole repairs and greening of Nigeria
International
Since May 2020 we have been raising funds to support the good work of Lovatt Foundation in Nigeria. Lovatt Foundation.Org was established in May 2015 by a New Zealand poet and teacher Fiona Lovatt, who has lived and worked with women and orphans in Nigeria since 2011. She helped set up an orphanage in a war torn area of Borno -supporting and working with children who had been displaced. She has worked with volunteers and other NGOs to continue to repair boreholes and plant 1000s of trees. She has with the help of her Foundation supported small business loans, medical treatment, distribution of zakaat and education scholarships
The beauty of this grassroots organization is the speed at which you see your funds put to work. Every penny goes a long way as the collective does not get paid, nobody draws a wage for the work.
To find out more about Fiona and the amazing work she does with the foundation please visit her website and FB page.

I am a Librarian and my first little project with Fiona was to find book donations for her "Books without Borders"project in 2008. Since then I have followed her work in Nigeria and once again I am getting the opportunity to assist.
The funds will be used to repair many boreholes that have stopped working in poor areas of Northern Nigeria and for continued support in planting fruit and other trees.
