Boy Waaka - Cancer Treatment Fund

Tena koutou, my name is Elizabeth Waaka (Liddy)

My husband Boy Waaka has been diagnosed with Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma Stage 3 (Kidney Cancer). The medical professionals within New Zealand have offered no course of treatment due to the stage and type of cancer he has, which has required our family to look overseas for other options.

To anyone who is lucky enough to know my husband, would know that he is a humble, kind, gentle soul and he does not deserve to have this happening to him - nor anyone else who is diagnosed with cancer. Boy is 38 years old, and otherwise fit, healthy and an athletic man with 4 children whom he adores. Within the community, he is a valued member; especially around Kahuranaki rugby league and Otane Sports Club.

We have been presented with an opportunity to travel to Mexico for alternative cancer treatment at our own expense. This has been the only option which has been made available, and we are willing to embrace this opportunity as there is no other hope for treatment.

This journey will also require my husband and myself to be away from our family for three weeks.

As hard as it is for our family to do this, we have started this page as a possible means to go towards making this treatment possible.

All funds raised will go directly towards the cancer treatment which is $53,000USD. We know it is a large sum of money, but no amount of money can equate to Boys life - so we are asking for everyone and anyone to give a little for Boy and his fight against cancer.

We love and appreciate everyone who has been a part of this journey so far, and all the heartfelt support we have had from friends, whanau, and the community.
